Entry 13 - TV Tropes 31/10/2011

I've just found this really great site which has lots of useful little terms.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MarySue

This website is just so interesting. As you can see I've been reading about the term "Mary Sue" in relation to characterisation. The amount of terms that I never in knew existed is staggering. This has really changed my approach to story telling, as I read about new terms I saw that many movies and stories I read had used a lot of the cliches listed on the website

It's incredible how many modern terms are being created. Just look at this one originating from the game super mario:

"Your Princess Is in Another Castle" - basically used to trick the audiences into thinking the heroes have reached the end of the story when infact there is still much more to go.

It's really interesting to see how the fans have interpreted the stories and made so many wierd terms to fit almost every type of plot. Wether most of these terms are relevant is another story however...

Entry 11 – Comparative film Analysis 19/10/2011

I’m going to compare the original Planet of the Apes, Franklin J. Shaffer (1968) with the 2001 remake by Tim Burton. I have created a moodboard to use as a starting point into my research.

Entry 9 – Finished Film Analysis 12/10/2011

I have finished writing my film analysis. I was pleased with my work but I felt a bit hampered with the word count of 1000 words. It felt like I was trying to cram too much information into the report and instead of applying one analysis effectively I was explaining 3 of them in small detail.

Entry 8 – Film Analysis 05/10/2011

I have started writing my film analysis and decided to choose James Cameron and his two superb sci-fi sequels Aliens and Terminator 2. I intend to apply the analytical approaches Genre Study, Narrative Structure Theory and Audience Reception Study to show the cultural impact and significance of this films on our society.
